If you’re looking for massages for pregnant women that are truly worth trying, we recommend these three options for this stage of life: one that targets the areas under the most strain, one for the head and face, and one for the legs and feet. These are the treatments we offer at Pura Bali Spa to support expectant mothers.

The 3 massages for expectant mothers, compared
We offer all three at Pura Bali Spa, and they differ in the area they target and the duration of the session. The “Expectant Mother” treatment covers several areas of the body at once and is the only one available in four different durations; the head and face treatment and the legs and feet treatment focus on a single area and always last 45 minutes. All three share the same unhurried pace and the same closing ritual, featuring tea.
| Massage | Area | Sensations | Duration | Start Week |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Special for Expectant Moms | Areas That Bear the Most Weight | Lightness and Calm | 30, 45, 60, or 90 min | Starting at week 12 |
| Cranial and Facial Massage | Scalp area, without oils | Relaxation and lightness | 45 min | Anytime |
| Leg and Foot Massage | Legs and Feet | Relaxation and reduced heaviness | 45 min | Anytime |
All three are listed on our page about prenatal massages in Barcelona.
Which massage should you choose based on how your body feels?
Every body has different needs during pregnancy. If you feel tired all over, choose the “Future Mom” massage; if the tension is concentrated in the upper body—the head and face—choose that option; if your legs feel heavy, choose the legs and feet massage.
If you feel it all over your body
There are days when you wouldn’t be able to pinpoint a single area: your whole body feels the effects of pregnancy. That’s where the “Special for Expectant Moms” massage comes in—a treatment that focuses on the areas bearing the most weight during these months to relieve built-up pressure. We perform it with gentle movements, adapted to each stage of pregnancy, and offer four session lengths to choose from—ranging from 30 to 90 minutes—depending on how much time you’d like to dedicate to yourself. Our goal is for you to feel lighter and more relaxed when the session ends.
If the tension is concentrated in the head area
When fatigue builds up in the upper body, what the body needs is a massage focused on that area. The cranial and facial massage is designed for expectant mothers, focusing on the scalp and performed without oils, using gentle, delicate movements. It’s a brief 45-minute respite: while the rest of the body rests, the focus is on releasing tension in that area and restoring a sense of lightness.
If your legs feel heavy
At the end of the day, your legs and feet feel it the most: they feel heavy, tired, and sometimes swollen. That’s why we’ve designed our 45-minute leg and foot massage, featuring gentle movements tailored to each stage of pregnancy. It’s meant to improve circulation and relieve that feeling of heaviness, so you’ll leave with your legs feeling more rested than when you arrived.
How Each Session Ends: The Tea Ritual
Whichever one you choose, all three massages end the same way: with a tea ritual and exotic pastries in our tea room. It’s a moment of respite inspired by Eastern traditions, designed to rehydrate the body, prolong relaxation, and enjoy a sense of calm before returning to the rhythm of the day. A simple gesture that transforms your visit into a more mindful and special experience.
Frequently Asked Questions About Massage for Pregnant Women
Which one should I choose if this is my first time?
If this is your first time getting a prenatal massage, the 30-minute “Special for Expectant Moms” option is a good way to start—it’s shorter than the others. If you already know where the discomfort is located, the scalp and face massage or the legs and feet massage will target that specific area.
Can I combine more than one massage?
You can try all three during different visits and choose the one that works best for you each time. You don't have to pick just one for the entire pregnancy: many expectant mothers alternate between them depending on what their bodies need at each visit.
Is oil used in these massages?
It depends on which one you choose. The scalp and facial massage is performed without oils, using gentle, delicate movements directly on the skin. For the “Expectant Mother” treatment and the leg and foot massage, we use an aromatic oil—selected to promote relaxation—which is part of the treatment.
What do I need to bring, and is there a place to change?
All you need to bring is your own swimsuit. We have private changing rooms and showers so you can get changed comfortably before and after your massage.
Can I give one of these massages as a gift?
Yes. All three can be given as gifts from their product page or from our “Give a Gift” page. The recipient simply needs to call us at 619 893 835 to schedule an appointment and present the gift card on the day of the treatment.
At Pura Bali Spa, we tailor every movement to this stage of pregnancy so you can enjoy it with comfort and peace of mind. Discover our three massages for expectant mothers and book the one that’s right for you.
